The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s fraternal benefit society that was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. Knights are Catholic men, at least 18 years old, who are committed to making their community a better place while supporting their church. Being a knight is being involved with your community, supporting your parish, enhancing your own faith and protecting and enhancing your family life. Imagine being part of an organization that fills your heart and your mind with the joy of giving to others and the feeling that comes with making a difference. You will make lifelong friends.

Matthew Burchett, a graduate of the class of 1994, died fighting the Mendocino Complex fires in California in August. He was nominated for Utahn of the Year because of his heroic deeds and sacrifice. Although this is bittersweet, it was a wonderful opportunity to honor Matthew and his ultimate sacrifice. He was a Catholic Gentlemen, a Knight and came in second place for Utahn of the Year.
